The region of Epirus is still unknown as far as Fly Fishing is concerned. The region of Bourazani, in the north of Greece, is characterized by a unique and untouched nature. The rivers provide fly-fishers with many opportunities to catch fish in quiet areas and deep clear water. Because of the rich natural history, it takes patience and skill to achieve the fly of the fantastically beautiful and hard-fighting brown trout. The special feature is that this activity takes place in the cleanest and only free-flowing river (without dams) in Europe, in the middle of a historical landscape. In the wider area you can do Rafting and Kayaking, throughout the year, when the flow of the rivers and the weather conditions allow it. The usual rafting boats have a capacity of 6-8 people and there is always the presence of a River Guide, who directs the crew with his orders. The most popular route on the Aoos river starts near by the bridge in Bourazani, crosses the green basin and ends at “Mesogefyra” before the Monastery of Molyvdoskepastis. In “Voidomatis” the classic route starts from the Papigko bridge, follows the route to the Voidomatis gorge and ends at the exit of the canyon, at Klidonia bridge. The descent on all routes can be done by rafting, kayak or monoraft. The duration of the route is from 1 to 2 hours and the degree of difficulty I - IV. In the ever-growing fields of Bousis, you will find routes for beginners and advanced. The climbing area of Kalovrysi has 10 climbing routes with degrees of difficulty from 6b to 7c+. The mountains of Konitsa are considered as a hiker's and mountaineer's paradise. Konitsa is surrounded by Mount Smolika (2637 m) - the 2nd highest mountain in Greece, Mount Grammos (2520 m) - the 4th highest in Greece and Mount Tymfi or Kamila (2497 m) - the 5th highest in Greece. Next to Konitsa we have Aoos River Gorge and at a distance of 8 km we have Vikos Gorge. It is the only area in the world that has two 2 gorges, one parallel to the other. Via Ferrata has been created in the gorge of Aoos River in Konitsa by the Mountaineering Association of Konitsa and is 3 km long. The natural landscape it passes through is unique, because the presence of Aoos River is continuous with unique images that change every 200 meters on the route . The many dirt forest roads on Mount Smolika, Mount Grammos and the area of Bourazani are suitable for mountain biking. Sections of the paved country road network, such as the route through the villages of the flatland to Konitsa and Molyvdoskepasti Monastery are ideal, as well as the existing forest roads. On the hill of “Profitis Ilias” (1071m), above Konitsa, there is a take-off runway for paragliding. Paragliding world cup competitions have also been held in our area. The hill ``Profitis Ilias`` above the city is one of the best spots in Greece for skydiving, because paragliders climbing to 9,000 feet can see the Aoos and Vikos Gorge, the dragon lake of Kamila and Smolikas, the Aoos river and its passage in Albania, Mount Grammos, Trapezitsa, etc., a landscape which is unique in the world. Konitsa and the wider area that surrounds it, is an unexplored paradise for off-road motor sports in Europe. The sport of Enduro is gradually blossoming in Konitsa by a group of local riders in recent years, creating trails and carving off-road routes of many kilometers, with as less interference in the natural environment as possible. We mark permanent routes with different degrees of difficulty, open and safe to all Enduro and On/Off enthusiasts. In the wider area of Bourazani, have been found 172 species of birds and 113 species of butterflies which make the area unique. 850 species of plants have been found in the wider area of Bourazani. Among them, 52 species of the orchid family have been recorded to date. For all the species that have been observed in the area, there is photographic material in the Museum of Natural History located in the ``Bourazani`` Environmental Park, as well as points of the area where the visitor can observe some of the species (depending on the season).
In ``Bourazani`` Environmental Park, stargazing enthusiasts can enjoy the celestial firmament on the hills of the Park with their telescopes. Our Conference Center is available for stargazing group meetings and discussions as well as viewings of the stellar phenomena observed by the group through their telescopes. In collaboration with scientists from the University of Ioannina, we created programs for children about our galaxy and the planets that surround us. It is a unique experience that gives them knowledge but mainly develops their imagination.
