
In our museum you have the opportunity to see all the kinds of plants, orchids, butterflies, reptiles, amphibia, libellules and orthopteran, that have been observed in the area of Bourazani, in photo portrayals. You may also observe all the species of fish that exist in the Aoos River.
The flora of the area of Bourazani is characterized by an extremely large amount of orchids, which corresponds to the 15%( 51 vegetal taxa of the Orchidaceae family) of the total amount of species in the specific area. As it is known, it is the greatest amount of orchids that has been recorded in such a small area.
In total, 850 kinds of plants and trees, 51 kinds of wild orchids, 113 species of butterflies, from the 232 that have been recorded in Greece and from the 430 that have been recorded in Europe, wild tulips, 172 species of birds, numbers of rare small bubo- bubo, 17 species of reptiles, 22 kinds of libellules (with the largest one in size in Europe), 12 species of fish in the Aoos River. In the Educational Park ’Bourazani’ and the Museum of Natural History in Bourazani can be implemented the following programmes for educational purposes:
